Let’s face it…all of us, at one time or another, get stuck in rut. Common ruts are flat or declining sales, persistent challenges in finding quality talent, or the inability to motivate a team.

Take a moment this week and ask yourself…

Where am I stuck?

With your answer in hand, you may be tempted to ask yourself…

Why am I stuck?

Don’t! Just don’t go there. This may seem counterintuitive, yet, if you’re really honest about it, the why doesn’t matter. Nor does it solve the problem. Rather, it can keep you stuck right in the very problem itself as you ponder the issue.

When you’re stuck, you need to DO something different versus attempting to think something different. Simply put, you’ve got to act your way into a new way of thinking (instead of trying to think your way into a new way of acting).

So, what are you going to DO differently this week?

If you’re in sales, what action have you been avoiding? Take that action starting today.

For recruiters, which recruiting strategy have you resisted? Use that strategy this week.

And for the leaders out there, how will you engage your team differently this week? Go be that engaging leader right now.

Do something different and you become someone different. And before you know it, you’re not only unstuck. You’ve also reminded yourself of your ability to overcome any rut that gets in your way.
